A 24 year-old male from Tisdale has discovered the consequence of taking his “Rider Pride” a bit too far – about 110 yards too far.
In the November 13th Saskatchewan Roughrider/Edmonton Elks home game at Mosaic Stadium, just as the Riders were securing their home playoff game, an adult male, in street clothes, got onto the playing field. He ran from the south end zone to the north end zone and up the steps to the concourse. That’s where he was promptly arrested by a member of the Regina Police Service. After gathering further information the male was charged with Mischief, which is defined in the Criminal Code as anyone who willfully, “obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property”. The lawful users of the property of Mosaic Stadium include the thousands of fans who stayed off the field.
Twenty-four year-old Cole Martin CHOWEN of Tisdale, SK, has been charged with Mischief under $5,000, contrary to section 430(1)(d) of the Criminal Code. CHOWEN was released on an undertaking with conditions not to attend Mosaic Stadium. He will make his first court appearance on the charge in Provincial Court on Wednesday, December 29, 2021.
