The Regina Police Service, working in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, can confirm that a death investigation started yesterday (November 1, 2021) is a homicide investigation. The murder of a 16 year-old Regina female is the twelfth homicide in Regina in 2021.
On Monday, November 1, 2021, at about 2:06 a.m., Patrol members were dispatched to a residence in the 1200 block of Rae Street for a report of a weapons offence. Police arrived and located a female, outside the residence, who appeared to be deceased. Several other resources were dispatched to the call. EMS confirmed the death. An injured male youth was also found at this location; he was taken to hospital by EMS with injuries described as serious. Patrol members secured the scene and began the investigation, taken over by Forensic Identification, the Coroner and Major Crimes shortly thereafter.
The name of the deceased female will not be released at this time. Section 111(1) of the Youth Criminal Justice Act prohibits publishing the name of a child or young person that identifies that young person as a victim of a crime committed, or alleged to have been committed, by another young person. As the Regina Police Service has not yet identified and arrested suspects in this case, the circumstances described above are still a possibility. Police and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service are continuing this investigation.
Anyone who has information that could help police in this investigation is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Regina Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
