A 31 year-old Regina male has been charged with assaulting a police officer.
At approximately, 5:10 a.m. on Monday, December 6, 2021, police were dispatched to an apartment residence in the 5300 block of Cambridge Avenue. The 9-1-1 caller was very agitated and aggressive. When police arrived, they met an individual coming out of the apartment from which the 9-1-1 call had come. They attempted to speak with him but he began fighting with officers. Officers made several attempts to calm and then contain the male; however, one police officer was struck several times by this individual. Believing the male to be intoxicated by drug or some other means, the officers requested EMS. The male was taken to hospital as a precaution. Officers were able to confirm that the individual they had in custody was, in fact, the male who had made the 9-1-1 call.
Thirty-one year-old year-old Joshua Peter ROSS, of Regina, is charged with Assault Peace Officer, section 270(1)(a) CC. ROSS was released on an undertaking to appear in Provincial Court on January 26, 2022.
