The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, is conducting a death investigation, after firefighters of Regina Fire and Protective Services (RFPS) discovered a deceased person in a house fire (today) Thursday, December 16, 2021. The cause of the fire is under investigation by RFPS; the death investigation will be carried out by the Regina Police Service and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
Police and RFPS were dispatched at approximately 10:49 a.m. on December 16, 2021, to the 1400 block of Cameron Street for a report of a house fire. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control. In a search of the property, firefighters discovered a deceased person within the house. At that point, the investigation shifted to include a death investigation by police and the coroner. Other police units arrived to secure the scene. At this time, the deceased person has been identified but notification to next-of-kin has not been completed. Investigation is ongoing. There are no other details for release at this time.
