A death investigation that began on Tuesday January 4, 2022, in the 1600 block of Toronto Street is now considered a homicide case. This is the first homicide investigation of 2022 in Regina. An adult male has been arrested and charged. The victim is an adult female.
Although it is still very early in this case, the circumstances known to police at this time are as follows: on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at approximately 1:05 p.m., police were dispatched to a house in the 1600 block of Toronto Street. Early information indicated there was a deceased female at that location. Officers arrived and found the body of an adult female, who was confirmed deceased by EMS. Officers secured the scene and requested additional resources, including Major Crimes, Forensic Identification and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. The deceased woman has been identified as 63 year-old Deborah Mae MAHADEO. Her next-of-kin have been notified of her death. Investigation led to the arrest of a 34 year-old male.
The accused is 34 year-old Raefe Aeron MAHADEO, of Regina. Raefe MAHADEO is charged with Second Degree Murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code. Raefe MAHADEO made his first court appearance on this charge in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. today: Wednesday, January 5, 2022.
