A 32 year-old male wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant is in custody after evading police and rolling the vehicle he was driving.
At approximately 4:21 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2022 patrol officers were dispatched to the area of 17th Avenue East and Park Street for a report of a single-vehicle rollover. Initial information was that several people had run from the vehicle following the collision. One adult female occupant was taken to hospital by EMS with what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
Members of the K9 Unit were called in to track the remaining occupants and one adult male was arrested nearby a short time later after a brief foot chase. Members of the K9 unit were then able to track the remaining suspects to a residence in the 2600 Block of Lacon Street. A male and female the address were taken into custody. The adult male refused to provide any information to police at the time of his arrest.
Officers noted that this same vehicle had not only evaded police several hours earlier but had driven on the wrong side of the road towards a police vehicle before fleeing about 20 minutes prior to the collision on Park Street and 17th Avenue. Investigation determined that MOAR was the driver of the vehicle and, as such, the other occupants were released without charges.
As a result, 32 year-old Daniel Joseph MOAR, of Regina is charged with
• Dangerous Operation of a Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm [320.12(2) CC];
• Obstruct Peace Officer [129(a)CC]; and
• 2 x Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited [320.18(1)(a) CC].
MOAR was also wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant for Breach of Statutory release. MOAR made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court at 2:30 p.m. February 28, 2022.
