A 15 year-old Regina youth is charged after displaying a photo posing with a firearm on social media.
On the afternoon of March 11, 2022, at approximately 1:30 p.m., police received a report of a photo circulating on social media of a Regina student posing with a firearm at a school on the 5200 block of Rochdale Boulevard. School staff worked with a member of the School Resource Unit and began the standard weapons protocol response to determine the identity of the suspect student. The student was located and arrested by police at the school, and a search revealed the alleged firearm, which was found to be a replica.
The 15 year-old male, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with: Carry Concealed Weapon [90 CC(1)].
The youth is scheduled to make his first appearance on this charge in Provincial Youth Court, April 27, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.
