The Regina Police Service is requesting help from the public in solving an incident in which two people were sprayed with a substance believed to be bear spray.
At approximately 5:39 a.m. on Monday, May 30, 2022, police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Retallack Street for a report of a weapons offence. Police located two adults: a male and a female who indicated they’d both been sprayed with bear spray. Preliminary investigation suggests the male was inside the house when he heard the female yelling outside. When he came out of the house, a young male in a red sweater, sprayed both of them and fled. Because of the irritant (bear spray), neityher victim was able to give more in the way of a suspect description. The female victim did report seeing a Jeep, with three occupants, at the south end of the alley behind 1400 block Retallack, but it’s not known if this vehicle or its occupants had anything to do with the assault with the bear spray. Police have canvassed the area for video, but so far, have not been able to recover a recording of the event. EMS tended to both victims.
Anyone who has information about this event or who may have witnessed some part of it, is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Regina Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
