At approximately 5:00 pm on July 20, 2022, officers in the Stolen Auto Unit observed a vehicle in the area of Albert Street and 1st Avenue North that had been earlier reported stolen in the town of Kipling.
Due to rush hour traffic, officers were unable to initiate a traffic stop. At approximately 9:30 p.m., the vehicle was located driving in the area of Saskatchewan Drive and Albert Street. Officers successfully deployed a spike belt. However, the vehicle carried on travelling west on Dewdney Avenue and eventually came to a stop outside of the city. With the assistance of the Canine Unit, officers took the three occupants of the vehicle into custody without further incident.
As a result, three people are facing charges:
- 19 year-old Alexi LARGE of Regina is charged with:
– Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 [CC 355]; and
– Fail to Comply With Conditions of Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)]
- 35 year-old Micheal Patrick MCPHEE of Regina is charged with:
– Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 [CC 355]; and
– Breach of Conditional Sentence Order [CC742.6(1)]
- 34 year-old Joshua John BIRD of Regina is charged with:
– Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 [CC 355]; and
– Fail to Comply With Conditions of Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)]
All three made their first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court this morning, July 21, 2022.
