On July 2, 2022 at approximately 12:20 a.m., members of the Regina Police Service attempted a traffic stop on a City of Regina pickup truck near Arcola and Victoria Avenue. Through investigation police later determined the City of Regina truck had been recently stolen. The operator of the truck made no attempt to pull over and accelerated to a high rate of speed eastbound on Victoria Avenue. Recognizing that the driver was not going to pull over and was operating at a dangerous speed, the officers pulled over to the side of the road in order to prevent a pursuit. Moments later, the City of Regina pickup truck was in a collision with another vehicle on Victoria Avenue near Embury Street. The driver of the City of Regina truck fled on foot and police attended to the driver of the other vehicle who was seriously injured. The driver of the second vehicle was extracted with the assistance of RFD and EMS and transported to the Regina General Hospital where he remains with serious injures. Police located and arrested a 39 year old male in relation to this incident.
Thirty-nine year old, Kyland BOWMAN is charged with the following offences:
- Fight from Peace Officer [CC 320.17]
- Dangerous Operation causing Bodily Harm [CC 320.13(2)]
- Failure to Stop after Accident that Results in Bodily Harm [CC 320.16(2)]
- Theft of Motor Vehicle [CC 333.1(1)]
- Possession of Stolen Property over $5000 [CC 355(a)]
- Possession of Stolen Property under $5000 [CC 355(b)]
- Breach of Probation [CC 733.1(1)]
Kyland BOWMAN will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Monday, July 4, 2022 at 9:30 a.m.
