The 13 year-old youth arrested in relation to Friday morning’s incident at F.W. Johnson Collegiate, faces five charges.
On Friday, September 23, 2022, at approximately 9:15 a.m., police were notified of a youth at F.W. Johnson School with a firearm. The school was put into lockdown and elementary schools in the area were placed in Secure-the-Building protocol. The school was cleared, and no one was found to be physically harmed. Investigation led police to a residence on the 1300 block of Fleet Street where two youths were arrested there. Officers located the firearm believed to have been used in the event and determined it to be an Airsoft firearm.
A 13 year-old female, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- 2 X Assault with a Weapon [CC 267(A)];
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88];
- Use of a Firearm During Commission of Indictable Offence [CC 85(1)(A)]; and
- Carry Concealed Weapon [CC 90].
The youth appears in Provincial Youth Court this morning, September 26, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.
