A 25 year-old female and a 35 year-old male are facing a string of charges after an incident in East Regina on Thursday morning.
On October 13, 2022 at approximately 7:50 a.m., police were dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on Coleman Crescent. When police arrived, officers approached the vehicle, which was running, and saw two people sleeping in the front seats. Officers could also see a firearm and ammunition in plain view inside the vehicle. Additional police units were called and a high-risk traffic stop was performed. Officers called out to the occupants of the vehicle informing them that police were present and they were under arrest. When the male driver awoke, he ignored commands and drove away. Police deployed tire deflation devices (spike belts) and the vehicle continued to drive toward Quance Street and onto Truesdale Drive. After several minutes, the vehicle crossed back over Victoria Avenue into the Glencarin neighborhood. Police observed the vehicle losing control and the car ultimately crashed into the fence of a home on Cole Crescent. The driver fled from the vehicle on foot and Patrol officers and a member of the K9 Unit followed in a foot pursuit.
Other officers present attended to the vehicle and apprehended the passenger – a 25 year-old female. Police seized a shotgun and box of ammunition from inside the car.
Meanwhile, police units set up a perimeter while the foot chase continued. The suspect male was seen running across Ring Road and through a number of residential yards near Rothwell Fields Park. A K9 team located the suspect male hiding in a shed on Rothwell Crescent. The Police Service Dog (PSD) did not make contact with the male; he was arrested and taken into police custody.
In a search of the car incident to arrest, police located quantities of substances believed to be methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine. Police also located items conducive with drug trafficking. As a result:
