The Regina Police Service is continuing to investigate a fatal collision that occurred yesterday (November 2nd) in the city’s south end.
On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at approximately 1:18 p.m., several police units were dispatched to the Ring Road, between Wascana Parkway and Albert Street, for a report of a collision. When police arrived, they found citizens attending to a female who was lying on the ground. It appeared she was the driver of a white Taurus at the scene. A Honda SUV was in the ditch between eastbound and westbound lanes; none of the occupants of the Honda were injured. A black Ford Truck was in the ditch south of the eastbound lanes, near a fallen light standard. The male driver of that vehicle was trapped inside the truck; officers learned (and it was confirmed by EMS) that the male was deceased. EMS and RFPS personnel continued to attend to others at the scene. The 18 year-old female driver of the Taurus was transported to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Although this investigation is still in its early stages, it appears the white Taurus was westbound on the Ring Road, approaching the Albert Street exit, when the vehicle went through the ditch between westbound and eastbound lanes, and collided with the truck, which was travelling eastbound. The force of the collision sent the truck into the ditch south of the eastbound lanes. (Please note: the direction of travel of each vehicle was mistakenly reversed in yesterday’s early information on this collision. The correct circumstances are: Taurus-westbound, Ford truck-eastbound.)
The name of the deceased person will not be made public by the Regina Police Service at this time. His next-of-kin have been notified of his death. This investigation is ongoing. The Regina Police Service is encouraging anyone who may have information to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or contact Regina Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
