A 32 year-old Regina male has been charged in connection to recent cases of auto theft.
On Monday, December 19, 2022, at approximately 1:25 a.m., police were dispatched to the 300 block of Trifunov Crescent for a report of an auto theft in progress. When police arrived at that location, they spoke with the victim who said his Honda Civic had been stolen by a suspect who’d just abandoned a Honda CRV. Officers briefly spotted the stolen vehicle in the area being followed by a white GMC truck. The stolen Honda Civic was later found abandoned on Lorimer Crescent. Police spotted the same truck, followed it and eventually stopped it at 1st Avenue North and Albert Street. The driver was arrested without incident. Further investigation led to confirmation that both Honda vehicles were stolen with evidence to link the thefts to the suspect in custody.
Thirty-two year-old Dustin Martin Lyle MORIN, of Regina, is facing seven charges:
- 2 X Theft of motor vehicle, s. 333.1(1) CC;
- 2 X Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, s. 355(b) CC;
- 2 X Fail to comply with conditions of release order, s. 145(5)(a) CC; and
- Possession of automobile master key, s. 353(1)(b) CC.
MORIN was released on an undertaking and will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on February 1, 2023.
