On Saturday, December 17, 2022, at approximately 3:30 a.m., a Regina Police Service canine unit located a vehicle that had been reported stolen earlier on December 16, 2022. Police deployed tire deflation devices (spike belts) resulting in the tires of the stolen vehicle deflating. The driver abandoned the stolen vehicle a short time later and fled on foot. A Canine officer, with the assistance of his Police Service Dog was able to track the driver and take a 36 year-old male into custody without further incident.
Thirty-six year-old Joseph Garth STONECHILD, of Regina is charged with:
- Flight from Peace Officer [CC 320.17]
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 [CC 355 (b)]
- Operation of a Conveyance while Prohibited [320.18(1)(a)]
- Fail to comply with Condition of a Release Order [CC 145(5)(a)]
STONECHILD will appear in Regina Provincial Court on these charges on February 2, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.
