Police investigation into an overnight motor vehicle collision resulted in charges against a 51 year-old Regina male. The collision caused injuries to an adult male, who was a passenger in the accused person’s vehicle.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, police were dispatched to a collision in the 1500 block of the East Victoria Service Road, for a report of two vehicles involved in a head-on collision. The vehicles were located in the area where the road dips below the Ring Road overpass; both vehicles – a green Dodge Journey and a black Nissa Rogue – showed substantial damage. It appeared the Dodge Journey had made its way into the oncoming lane, striking the Nissan Rogue. The driver of the Rogue reported relatively minor soreness; the front seat passenger (male) in the Journey was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries. The investigating officer suspected the driver of the Journey to be impaired, so the driver was placed under arrest and, upon further investigation, was charged.
Fifty-one year-old Jason Lee Wayne SEWAP, of Regina, is charged with:
- Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm, s. 320.13(2) CC; and
- Refusal to Comply with Breath Demand, s. 320.15(1) CC.
SEWAP made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 (today).
