On the evening of Thursday, January, 12, 2023, police were dispatched to a convenience store on the 3500 block of Dewdney Avenue for the report of an armed robbery in progress. Police received multiple reports that two suspects, armed with an improvised aerosol flame weapon and an axe, were threatening an employee and causing destruction.
At approximately 7:35 p.m., police arrived and the suspects were still inside. Police entered and arrested the two suspects, who were identified as a 35 year-old male and a 26 year-old female. The female was found to be in breach of a condition to keep the peace and be of good behavior.
Thirty-five year-old Eric Russell MCNAB and twenty-six year-old Nynpha Janine STARR-KAISWATUM, of Regina, are jointly charged with:
- Mischief Over $5,000 [CC 430(3)];
- Assault with a Weapon [CC 267(A)];
- Arson with Disregard for Human Life [CC 433(A)]; and
- Robbery [CC 344(1)(B)].
STARR-KAISWATUM is also charged with Fail to Comply with Probation Order [CC 733.1(1)].
The accused make their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, Friday, January 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.
