On Sunday, February 19, 2023 at approximately 12:10 p.m., police were dispatched to a business in the 900 block of Albert Street for a report that two females left with unpaid merchandise and assaulted employees in their attempt to flee. Police arrived in the area and located and arrested a 17 year-old female youth and a 40 year-old adult female. Both females resisted arrested when located. Through investigation it was learned the 40 year-old adult female, had threatened the employees with a knife and swung a needle at them, and the 17 year-old female youth had physically assaulted an employee.
Forty year-old Jana Sayer-Desjarlais, of Regina is charged with:
- Assault with a weapon [CC 267(a)] X 2
- Theft under $5000 [CC 334(b)]
- Resist Arrest [CC 129(a)]
The 17 year-old female youth, who will not be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act is charged with:
- Assault [CC 266]
- Theft under $5000 [CC 334(b)]
- Resist Arrest [CC 129(a)]
Both females will appear in Regina Provincial Court on these charges on March 30, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.
