Two people are facing charges following an assault in the 1200 Block of Queen Street, yesterday, Wednesday, April 27, 2023.
Shortly before 1:30 p.m., officers were called to a residence for a report of an assault in progress. When they arrived, they learned the victim had just left the residence and walked to a nearby school where she had connected with a School Resource Officer.
The victim stated she had been physically assaulted by an adult male at the home before he pointed a firearm at her. An adult female at the home had threatened her with bear mace.
Officers from our Patrol and Canine Units worked to bring the suspects into custody. At approximately 2:30 p.m., the male and female suspects exited the house without further incident. Due to the relationship of the suspect and victim, names of the charged will not be released in order to protect the victim’s identity.
As a result, a 42 year-old male is charged with:
- Assault [CC 266];and
- Pointing a Firearm [CC 87].
A 37 year-old female is charged with:
- Assault With a Weapon [CC 267(A)].
The 42 year-old male made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court this morning, Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. The 37 year-old female will make her first appearance on June 7, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.
Schools in the area were put into ‘Secure the Building Mode’ while officers worked to bring the suspects safely into custody.
