On May 9, 2023, at approximately 11:50 a.m., police were dispatched to the 2900 block of Dewdney Avenue for the report of a weapons offence in which two males threatened a group.
Police arrived and located two adult females. One had injury consistent with knife wounds, and was transported to hospital by EMS.
Investigation determined that a group was at a business on 7th Avenue and Albert Street when two females, aged 36 and 35, approached the group and began to argue. The 36 year-old female revealed a firearm, and the two females left. Two males in the group exited after the females, and one male, aged 19, assaulted the 35 year-old female with a bladed weapon in the area of the 2900 block of Dewdney Avenue. A search of the 36 year-old female revealed imitation firearms.
The two males involved were located nearby and taken into custody without incident. One of the males was charged for the assault on the female.
Nineteen year-old Maximus Kenneth WILLOWS, is charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon [CC 267(A)]; and
- Fail to Comply With Disposition [YCJA 137].
Thirty-six year-old Crystal Gail TAYPOTAT, is charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88];
- Carry Concealed Weapon [CC 90]; and
- 2 X Fail to Comply with Probation Order [733.1(1)].
WILLOWS and TAYPOTAT made their first appearance on these charges today, Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
