A 16 year-old Regina youth is facing multiple charges resulting from three recent robberies.
Investigation by members of the Regina Police Service Robbery Unit and Patrol officers identified a suspect who was believed to be involved in three robberies – occurring on August 16, August 25 and September 14. On October 3, 2023, officers arrested a 16 year-old male at a Regina residence and he was taken into police custody. The youth, who cannot be named in accordance with provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with:
- 3 X Robbery [CC 344 (1)(B)];
- 3 X Fail To Comply With Condition of a Release Order [CC 145 (5)(A)];
- Fail To Comply With Condition of an Undertaking [CC 145 (4)(A)].
Robbery 1
On Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at approximately 10:30 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of a robbery in the 5600 block of Rochdale Boulevard. Information provided to police stated a male victim had just been robbed of his belongings by multiple suspect males. The victim was not physically injured. A few hours later, Patrol officers arrested one male youth and charged him with Robbery.
One of the other suspect males, now identified as the 16 year-old male, was arrested on October 3, 2023 and charged with:
- Robbery [CC 344 (1)(B)];
- Fail To Comply With Condition of a Release Order [CC 145 (5)(A)];
Robbery 2
On Friday, August 25, 2023 at approximately 11:00 p.m., police were dispatched to a business in the 1000 block of Pasqua Street N for a report of a robbery in progress. Information provided to police stated that two suspects had entered the business wearing face coverings and stole liquor. When the suspects were confronted by staff, one of the suspects sprayed the staff member with bear mace. The suspects then fled on foot.
One of the suspect males, now identified as the 16 year-old male, was arrested on October 3, 2023 and charged with:
- Robbery [CC 344 (1)(B)];
- Fail To Comply With Condition of a Release Order [CC 145 (5)(A)];
Robbery 3
On September 14, 2023 at approximately 11:00 p.m., it was reported to police that a robbery and assault had taken place earlier in the day, at approximately 3:15 p.m. outside a school in the 200 block of Argyle Street. Information provided to police stated that a male victim was approached and assaulted by two suspect males. The male victim was then sprayed with bear mace and robbed of his possessions. The suspects left in a vehicle with another male. A short time later, police arrested and charged the driver of the vehicle and one of the male suspects with Robbery.
The third male, now identified as the 16 year-old male, was arrested on October 3, 2023 and charged with:
- Robbery [CC 344 (1)(B)];
- Fail To Comply With Condition of a Release Order [CC 145 (5)(A)];
- Fail To Comply With Condition of an Undertaking [CC 145 (4)(A)].
The youth made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Youth Court on October 4, 2023. He made a second court appearance on these charges yesterday (October 12, 2023).
