On Thursday, May 30, 2024, as a result of investigation into drug trafficking in the city of Regina, the Regina Drug Unit (RDU), supported by Regina Police Service Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) team, conducted enforcement on suspects trafficking a large amount of cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl.
In the early afternoon, three suspects were arrested. Two of these suspects were arrested in the 100 block of Froom Crescent, where a search yielded significant quantities of substances believed to be:
- 4 kilograms of fentanyl,
- 25 kilograms of cocaine,
- 5 kilograms of methamphetamine,
and over $29,000 in Canadian currency.
Subsequent search warrants were executed on the 500 block of University Park Drive. Searches there also yielded significant quantities of substances believed to be:
- ½ kilogram of of fentanyl,
- 72 grams of cocaine,
- ½ kilogram of methamphetamine,
and over $5,000 in Canadian currency.
Four and a half kilograms of Fentanyl is significant, as extremely small quantities of this drug can be lethal. The estimated street value of all of the seized drugs is believed to be well over one million dollars.
As a result, 23 year-old Arunpreet SINGH, 20 year-old Manav (NO SURNAME), and 19 year-old Manav (NO SURNAME), are jointly charged with:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) [CDSA 5(2)];
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Methamphetamine) [CDSA 5(2)];
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl) [CDSA 5(2)]; and
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 [CC 355].
The accused made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
