The spookiest day of the year is here and the Regina Police Service is reminding the public to celebrate safely this Halloween night.
For the trick-or-treaters:
- Add some bright elements to your costume, use reflective tape and carry a flashlight.
- Stay in familiar neighborhoods.
- Make a pre-planned route, and share that plan with a parent or guardian before you start.
- Stay on well-lit streets and only trick-or-treat at homes with their outdoor lights on.
- Walk on the sidewalks and be aware of cars; they may not be able to see you in the dark.
- Cross the street at crosswalks and always look both ways before walking.
- Have FUN!
For home and property owners:
- Lock the doors on your detached garages and sheds.
- Lock any vehicles parked on the street and in the driveway. Do not leave garage door openers in vehicles parked outside.
- If you aren’t home, turn on your alarm or motion activated lights.
- If you see suspicious behavior on your property or in your neighborhood – report to police.
- Halloween night has the potential to bring some individuals out who may be looking for mischief. We ask you take these few extra precautions to keep your home and your property safe.
If you see members of the Regina Police Service on patrol while you are out on Halloween night, give us a wave! Please call police if you see a crime in progress or if you see someone in trouble who needs help. We witch you a safe and happy Halloween!
