The Regina Police Service is dedicated to enhancing public safety and building stronger community partnerships. In line with this commitment, we are excited to announce another “All Out Progressive Policing Initiative: Engagement and Enforcement” today, Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
The 2023 Community Perceptions Survey highlighted a need for increased police presence, and a focus on issues such as alcohol and drugs. This initiative is a strategic response, combining data-driven enforcement with proactive community engagement.
Key elements of the initiative include:
• Rotating Neighborhood Operations: Officers will conduct targeted deployment operations in areas identified through data analysis. These operations will involve increased police presence in designated neighborhoods for set periods.
• Enhanced Visibility and Community Engagement: RPS aims to prioritize interaction with residents and business owners, fostering open communication. Building these relationships is crucial for deterring crime and promoting a sense of security.
• Proactive Problem-Solving: Officers will be prepared to identify and address emerging issues within the selected neighborhoods. Leadership will provide specific protocols for effective problem-solving.
The fifth initiative will focus on the Cathedral and Harbour Landing neighborhoods. Results of this initiative will be shared in an upcoming news release.
We ask for the community’s support and cooperation as we roll out this initiative. You can expect to see an increased police presence in these neighborhoods, with officers engaging with residents and business owners. Our goal is to create a safer environment and build stronger relationships within our community. Together, we can make a significant impact on public safety.
