At approximately 1:50 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025, police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Pasqua Street for the report of a weapons offence involving a firearm. Initial information indicated a male suspect shot the victim with what appeared to be a gun before fleeing the scene.
Upon arrival, police located one injured youth who was attended to by EMS and transported to hospital with serious injuries. A short while later, police located an adult male matching the description on the 1500 block of Pasqua Street. A search revealed a pistol. The male was arrested without incident.
As a result of this investigation, 21 year-old Ashton WESAQUATE, of Regina, is charged with:
- 3X Attempted Murder [CC 239];
- Discharge of a Restricted Firearm [CC 244.2 (1)(A)];
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88];
- 3X Pointing a Firearm [CC 87];
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Unauthorized [CC 92 (1)];
- Possession of an Unauthorized Weapon [CC 91 (1)];
- Possession of a Loaded Firearm [CC 95 (1)];
- Careless Use of a Firearm [CC 86 (1)];
- Failure to Comply with Conditions [CC 145 (5)(A)]; and
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01 (1)].
The accused made their first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court this morning, March 31, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.
