Regina Drug Unit (RDU) concluded an investigation into drug trafficking in the city of Regina with the arrest of a 21 year-old male, with support from the Tactical Support Unit and members of patrol. This investigation ended with the seizure of a significant quantity of illicit drugs and cash. The value of this seizure is believed to be approximately $700,000.
On Friday, March 28, 2025, the Regina Police Service conducted a vehicle stop on a suspected drug trafficker. A search yielded:
- Approximately 9 ounces of fentanyl; and
- Approximately 1 kilogram of methamphetamine.
A subsequent search warrant was executed at a residence in the 4400 block of James Hill Road, which yielded:
- Approximately 3.1 kilograms of fentanyl;
- Approximately 3.4 kilograms of methamphetamine;
- Approximately 740 grams of cocaine; and
- Approximately $28,000 in cash.
As a result, 21 year-old Kavya YADAV, of Brampton Ontario, is charged with:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine) [CDSA 5(2)];
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine) [CDSA 5(2)];
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (fentanyl) [CDSA 5(2)]; and
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 [CC 355].
The accused made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court on Monday, March 31, 2025.
