The Arson/Collision Investigative Unit is comprised of 1 Sergeant who is responsible for file coordinating and investigating arsons (including structure fires and non-structure fires) as well as all fatal motor vehicle collisions.
When investigating arson, the unit works closely with Regina Fire & Protective Services Fire Marshall and Fire Inspectors as well as insurance companies. Arson investigations are often complex as they involve determining the cause and origin of a fire, as well as possible criminal activity.
The unit is also responsible for file coordinating all fatal motor vehicle collision investigations. The investigator works closely with Collision Re-constructionists from the RPS Traffic Safety Unit as well as the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. Fatal collision investigations are often very lengthy as they often require toxicology reports, investigations by the coroner, and collision reconstruction.
