The Regina Police Service has issued the first ticket in Regina in relation to a violation of a Government of Saskatchewan Public Health Order issued March 26, 2020.
The Public Health Order is one of several mandated by the Government of Saskatchewan to reduce the spread of COVID-19. It includes a strict 14 day isolation period for all individuals who have laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19, as well as individuals who have been identified by a Medical Health Officer as having close contact with a person with COVID-19. The mandatory 14 day self-isolation is also ordered for all individuals who have travelled internationally.
On April 6, 2020, the Regina Police Service issued a ticket to a 23 year-old female for failing to comply with this order. The ticket, an infraction under the Public Health Act, is for a payment of $2800. The female was issued the ticket after police were informed by Public Health that the female was not complying with the mandatory 14 day self-isolation period.
The Regina Police Service continues to echo the Government of Saskatchewan in their mandate for full-compliance of the Public Health Order. Anyone who wishes to report an alleged violation of the order is asked to contact 1-855-559-5502. Investigations into reports will be led by Public Health, with assistance from police where necessary.
