The Regina Police Service Community Cadet Corps. program focuses on engaging youth between 11 – 13 by building future community leaders through developing and enhancing leadership, self-discipline, respect, and the encouragement to stay in school.
The program is administered by members of the Cultural and Community Diversity Unit who instill discipline and goal setting within the curriculum through presentations and activities. The program consists of drill, positive discussions, sports and recreational activities, teamwork, values, and common goal setting.
The focus is centered on positive discussions and topics that concentrate on personal values and influencing the next generation of leaders. Weekly presentations on respect, leadership, gratitude, and positive role models are supported by presentations from community partners and Regina Police Service Units including SWAT and K9.
Cadets learn from community partners by participating in facility tours, including Regina Fire Dept. and EMS, and other educational venues such as the Royal Saskatchewan Museum and the Science Centre.
The highlight of the year is when the Cadets get to show their hard work and dedication by marching in the Regina Police Service annual Showcase and walk with the Regina Police Service float in the Santa Clause Parade and the Queen City Ex Parade.
