Citizens on Patrol Program (COPP)
Members of your neighbourhood will be more visible while patrolling throughout Regina in an effort to prevent crime and help make our city as safe as possible. The Citizens on Patrol Program (COPP) is a community-based initiative supported by the Regina Police Service and sponsored by SGI.
COPP is a volunteer program through the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA) that aims to help prevent crime in the community. The citizens on Patrol Program is made up of CPAAA members who organize themselves to patrol neighborhoods in their communities, providing additional “eyes and ears” for the Police and also providing a visible deterrent for crime. Members of COPP are graduates of the Citizens Police Academy who receive additional training from the Regina Police Service and once trained, are assigned to patrol areas within their community.
COPP members will patrol either on foot, on bicycle or in a vehicle. While patrolling on foot or bicycle, members wear a reflective yellow vest. While driving, vehicles can be identified by a “Citizens on Patrol Program” magnetic sign.
