A 23 year-old female is facing a charge of Attempted Murder after an incident on April 19th that sent a 20 year-old male to hospital with serious injuries, consistent with an apparent gunshot. The same accused also faces numerous charges in connection with an assault with a weapon, involving a group of children and two adults.
The investigation into the shooting began when police were dispatched to hospital, at about 7:58 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019. Initial information received indicated a male was at hospital with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. As medical treatment was the first priority, it was difficult at first for officers to obtain clear information. Through investigation they believed that this shooting was related to the arrest, at about 7:43 p.m. of a 23 year-old female, in the 1400 block of Minto Street. In that investigation, police were called to Minto Street after a female allegedly confronted a group of children and then the parents of one of the children. A search of the female, upon arrest, found a small handgun. Through further investigation police gathered evidence indicating the suspect female taken into custody on Minto Street had been at a gathering earlier in the day at a residence on the 1300 block of Aberdeen Street. It’s alleged there was argument and some physical altercation, and a female present at that gathering produced a small caliber firearm and shot one of the males present. Investigation into both incidents led to several charges against the 23 year-old female.
