A Regina male has been charged with Second-Degree Murder in connection with the death of a 33 year-old female, which occurred on Wednesday, September 6, 2017.
The death investigation began when police were dispatched at about 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 6th to a location in the 200 block of Angus Street for an “Assist Citizen”. Police attended and located a 33 year-old female, who was confirmed deceased and located a 45 year-old male in the residence. Officers secured the scene and requested the Coroner as well as additional resources, including a Major Crimes team and Forensic Identification investigators. The deceased female was identified and her next-of-kin were notified. As more information and evidence were gathered, investigators determined the death was a homicide case. The investigation led to the arrest of the 45 year-old male, who was subsequently charged.
The deceased victim is 33 year-old Jenny Leigh MCKAY, DOB: 1984-06-20, of Regina. This is the sixth homicide in Regina in 2017.
Forty-five year-old Jason Daniel MCKAY, DOB: 1972-02-05, of Regina, is charged with Second-Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada. MCKAY made his first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2017.
