On Saturday May 1, 2021, at approximately 9:20 pm, police were dispatched to the 700 block of Rae Street for the report of an injured male. Information received was that an adult male had assaulted another adult male with what appeared to be a knife. Police arrived and discovered a victim with what is described as a stab wound. EMS attended and the victim was sent to hospital with serious injury.
Investigation into the assault led to a suspect, who was arrested without incident in the 2800 block of 3rd Avenue. The male was subsequently charged with aggravated assault.
In this incident, the victim and accused are members of the same family, making this a domestic-related incident. Giving the name of the accused would have the unintended consequence of also identifying the victim. For that reason, The Regina Police Service will not name the accused. This 27 year-old male has been charged with Aggravated Assault [CC 268(1)]. He will make his first court appearance on these charges before Provincial Court on Monday May 3, 2021.
