The Regina Police Service Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) will be conducting regular quarterly training in Regina tomorrow, on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, and wishes to advise the public of the location involved so as not to cause any unnecessary alarm.
The team will be practicing at the Evraz Centre, outdoors in the parking lot – with the permission of the owners of the property. Anyone in the area will notice police vehicles, including a large Tactical Armored Vehicle, or TAV. There will be numerous participants in the training including members of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Explosives Disposal Unit and Crisis Negotiation Team. All of the necessary safety checks have been performed on equipment and there is no live ammunition involved in this training.
The officers will be training on Wednesday March 25, 2015 from approximately 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. There are no schools in the area, so other than the sight of police officers training at this location, there should be no disruption to the usual everyday activity and traffic flow in the area.
